Preparation before any paint goes on
Bedrooms collect small defects: hairline cracks above doors, dents behind the headboard, old picture hooks and marks where furniture has rubbed. We fill and sand these, spot-prime the repairs so they do not show through, and treat any mould or condensation staining around windows before painting over it.
Furniture and flooring
Beds and wardrobes are moved to the centre of the room and covered, and carpets are protected with dust sheets. If the room has to be slept in that night, say so when you ask for a price and we plan the day around it.
Choosing colours and finishes
Softer, low-sheen finishes suit bedrooms because they hide minor wall imperfections and do not glare under lamps. For children’s rooms, a wipeable matt holds up better against fingerprints and crayons. Darker colours need more careful cutting in and sometimes an extra coat, which we allow for in the price.
How long it takes
A typical bedroom, walls and ceiling, is usually finished in one to two days depending on the amount of preparation and whether woodwork is included. Several bedrooms can be painted in sequence so you always have somewhere to sleep.
